NIPSS DG Visits NVRI, PROPOSES NATIONAL SUMMIT ON LIVESTOCK DEVELOPMENT
The Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Professor Ayo Omotayo, today, Wednesday, 26 August 2026, paid a working visit to the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom, where he was received by the Director/ Chief Executive, Dr. Dashe G. Yakubu, and members of the Institute’s Internal Management Committee (IMC) at the Quality Control Hall.
Welcoming the DG, Dr. Yakubu described NIPSS as the think tank of the Federation and expressed optimism that the visit would further strengthen collaboration and interaction between both institutions. He appreciated Professor Omotayo for taking the time to visit the Institute and assured him that NVRI’s doors would always remain open to meaningful partnerships and collaborations with NIPSS.
In his remarks, Professor Omotayo described NVRI as a brother institution, emphasizing the need for sustained harmony and a stronger relationship between the two institutions. He congratulated Dr. Dashe Yakubu on his appointment as the new Director/ Chief Executive of NVRI and wished him a successful and impactful tenure.
The Director-General of NIPSS noted that enhanced collaboration between NIPSS and NVRI would contribute significantly to Nigerian livestock development, particularly as the livestock sector continues to be recognised as an important contributor to national development.
To this effect, he proposed the organisation of a National Summit on Livestock Development in collaboration with NVRI. He explained that while NVRI brings its wealth of technical expertise to the partnership, NIPSS provides strength in policy, leadership, and strategy.
As part of efforts to strengthen leadership capacity and institutional collaboration, Professor Ayo Omotayo, also offered free tuition on policy, leadership and strategy to five(5) members of NVRI’s Internal Management Committee at NIPSS.
The Director/Chief Executive expressed appreciation to the DG for the visit, the proposed collaboration, and the generous offer of free tuition.
He assured the NIPSS delegation of NVRI’s commitment to working closely with the Institute to promote sound livestock policies , strengthen the sector and its global recognition.
